World, Switzerland, Zürich, gilt silver bundestaler "1296", cast c. 16th-18th centuries

This piece commemorates the foundation of the Swiss confederation by William Tell, Werner Stauffacher and Arnold of Melchtal. Although dated 1296, these pieces were in fact first made around 1546 for the 250th anniversary of the confederation, and further pieces were produced in the following centuries.
