In the year 248 AD, Rome celebrated the 1000th anniversary of its founding by Romulus and Remus, which according to legend happened on 21 April 753 BC. In particular, Philip I organised a three-day ludi saeculares (Secular Games), with every imaginable entertainment including the hunting of wild animals. This coin forms part of a special series struck to commemorate the event.
VF+, minor roughness, attractive green patina. Rare.
