Byzantine, Sasanian, temp. Khusro II, AE 12 Nummi, Persian occupation issue of Alexandria, Egypt. 618-628 AD. Bust facing, star and crescent in field/large IB, divided by cross on globe. 18 mm, 6.25g.


Alexandria was occupied by Sasanian forces for nearly ten years during the great war of 602-628 between the two powers. The Sasanian occupiers took over the mint and issued 

Good Fine, green and red deposit, roughness. Scarce and interesting type.
