British hammered, Anglo-Saxon, Pada, very pale AV thrymsa, c. 670 AD, uncertain mint in Kent. 1.31 g.

The Pada coinage exists at a transition from the earliest Anglo-Saxon coinage, which was exclusively struck in gold, to the later silver "Sceat" coinage. This piece has a high silver content and a pale colour, but a typical weight for a thrymsa. Whether any true sceats exist for this issue is a complex question, given that most example have significant gold content, often over 5%.

VF+, good surfaces, minor deposit. Rare.

Spink 770 (cf. 773 for Sceat)
