Notoriously Julianus gained the empire by buying it from the Praetorian guard at the price of 25,000 sestertii per soldier, after the murder of Pertinax. Julianus was extremely unpopular, being unable to safely appear in public in the city of Rome, and was murdered after a reign of only 66 days, in the midst of a general rebellion of the Roman legions and the desertion of the Praetorian guard. Nevertheless this coin depicts Julianus as "RECTOR ORBIS", he who rights the world...
