John Richard Brinsley Norton, 5th Baron Grantley (1855-1943) was one of the most eclectic collcetors of the late 19th and early 20th centuries; his collection included both the famed Crondall hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold, now in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, as well as 17th century tokens of Yorkshire, and countless ancient and world coin rarities.
